What freezing can treat.
Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to destroy some types of skin spots, such as solar keratoses (sunspots), warts and some other non-cancerous lesions. It is not used for spots that might be melanoma or other skin cancers that need a biopsy.
Your GP will examine each spot first and recommend the right treatment.

Does it hurt?
It stings during treatment and for a short time after, like a burn.
How many treatments?
Some spots clear with one; others need repeat treatments a few weeks apart.
What to expect afterwards.
The area usually becomes red, may blister, then forms a scab that falls off within one to three weeks. Keep it clean, do not pick it, and protect it from the sun.
Some lighter or darker marks can remain afterwards.

Can I cover it?
Yes, a simple dressing is fine if it rubs.
When should I come back?
If it looks infected, or the spot has not cleared when expected.
